Thomson Reuters – Social Media Manager, Communications

Thomson Reuters Foundation are seeking a Social Media Manager to create and implement engaging social campaigns around key initiatives, to shape the look and feel of channels, liaise with teams across the Foundation to showcase output, and cover live events. Social Media Manager will work closely with the Communications Team to shape public messaging, wherever it appears on our social media platforms.

While you will work most closely with the Comms and Digital teams, you will get to collaborate with teams across the organisation (namely TrustLaw, Media Development, Editorial, and Inclusive Economies) to devise new ways to showcase their work and achievements in relation to overarching focus areas, in addition to leading campaigns for key initiatives, like annual Trust Conference.

Please note, this is a 1 year fixed term contract.

About the Role

As a Social Media Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will be:

  • Managing and creating content for our corporate Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts
  • Creating and implementing social media campaigns for larger initiatives and events, such as Trust Conference, the Stop Slavery Award, or the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund Awards in International Journalism, in close collaboration with the Comms team
  • Generating basic reporting and analytic on campaigns or donor-funded activities
  • Representing the Foundation on calls with external partners and implementing any social media-related partnership deliverables
  • Creating a monthly content calendar and developing a daily engagement plan with the Comms team (this will include putting in place your preferred processes for collecting content and capturing requests from teams across the Foundation)
  • Covering our live events, such as Trust Conference, panel discussions, or webinars
  • Liaising with teams across the Foundation to generate content ideas and implement requests made by them
  • Updating and developing the CEO’s social channels on Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Working closely with the Design team to create visual assets
  • Working closely with the Digital team to create social videos
  • Providing guidance on social media best practices

To be Social Media Manager, you will likely have:

  • Experience in a digital communications role
  • A proven track record driving growth on social media at a notable organisation
  • Experience of covering live events on social media
  • Exceptional written and proofreading skills, with rigorous attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to generate creative content ideas and work closely with other teams to translate them into successful campaigns
  • The ability to multi-task and manage a number of projects and requests from teams in parallel
  • An interest in and ability to process complex information about our focus areas (Inclusive Economies, Media Freedom, Human Rights) and produce engaging social copy that is also credible and accurate

It would be great if you also have:

  • Knowledge of paid social
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Experience working in the international development, charity, or public sector, or in a newsroom
