- Fellowships
Organisation: German taz Panter Foundation
Deadline: 15/01/2026
Location: Berlin
The Rest and Resilience Fellowship is a program of the taz Panter Foundation, which has been held annually since 2015. The call for applications 2026 is now open.
Fellowship
Two journalists from countries with restricted press and information freedoms are invited to Berlin for a six-month stay. During their time in Berlin, the media professionals can take a break from their daily responsibilities, recover from difficult working conditions, and broaden their personal and professional horizons. At the end of the six months, the fellows return to their home countries with renewed energy and new perspectives to continue their journalistic work.
If they wish, participants may withdraw completely from public life. However, the fellowship includes various workshops for professional development and networking, and participation in these is strongly recommended. In addition, the stay in Berlin offers the opportunity to connect with international journalists from around the world, get to know German newsrooms, attend language courses, and—if desired—receive individual psychosocial counselling.
Costs covered by the programme
- Visa and travel costs
- Furnished apartment in Berlin
- Travel health insurance for the six-month stay in Berlin
- A monthly budget to cover living expenses for each of the six months
- Psychological support
- Workshops (e.g., digital security training, stress management)
- Professional journalistic and/or personal development opportunities
Planned fellowship period
The stay in Berlin is limited to six months. The anticipated fellowship period is from May 1 to October 31, 2026.
