Senior English Editor

Jummar is an independent Iraqi media platform producing human-centred, rights-based
journalism. As their English-language platform continues to grow, they are seeking a Senior
Editor to lead its editorial direction, oversee content production, and strengthen
engagement with international and diaspora audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Define and oversee the editorial direction of Jummar’s English-language platform.
• Set weekly, monthly, and quarterly editorial priorities.
• Lead editorial planning and content commissioning.
• Maintain editorial standards, style guidelines, and quality control across platforms
• Oversee English-language website, newsletter, and social media output.
• Develop relationships with contributors, writers, researchers, and cultural partners.
• Lead the development and production of Jummar’s English newsletters.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and Arabic.
• Proven experience in journalism, editing, and content production.
• Strong editorial and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of Iraqi political, social, environmental, and cultural context.
• Experience managing contributors, editorial workflows, and content strategies.
