Fight for the Future is a leading advocacy organization that builds and sustains creative, highly visible campaigns to ensure that technology serves as a force for liberation rather than exploitation. As a queer women-led team of activists, strategists, and technologists, Fight for the Future has spearheaded some of the largest online protests in history.
The Senior Campaign Director will play a crucial leadership role in developing and executing impactful campaigns in key areas such as privacy, surveillance, decentralized tech, and anti-censorship. This position is ideal for a highly skilled organizer who thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments and is passionate about using technology for social good.
Responsibilities
- Campaign Development & Execution (70%)
- Lead and strategize advocacy campaigns that align with Fight for the Future’s key policy goals.
- Develop and write compelling campaign materials, including mass emails, press releases, social media content, fundraising appeals, and more.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, engaging with media outlets such as NPR, The New York Times, CNN, Wired, and USA Today.
- Build partnerships with civil society organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to amplify campaign impact.
Organize in-person advocacy events, digital campaigns, and lobbying efforts to advance policy objectives. - Monitor and analyze policy developments at local, national, and international levels.
- Research emerging technologies, regulatory frameworks, and industry trends to inform advocacy strategies.
- Contribute to developing Fight for the Future’s broader policy positions and campaign strategies.
- Organizational Support (10%)
- Assist with team and volunteer recruitment, contractor management, and fundraising efforts.
- Foster an internal culture that values sustainability, rest, and mutual support.
Required Qualifications
- At least 8 years of experience in organizing, legislative advocacy, grassroots movements, journalism, or related fields.
- Strong writing skills, with experience producing content for broad audiences, including online platforms and media outlets.
- Proven ability to generate media coverage, craft effective press materials, and engage with journalists.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
- Experience leading high-profile initiatives, such as major campaigns, investigative reports, startups, or creative projects.
- Deep understanding of political issues, movement-building strategies, and advocacy work.
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and engage with people from different backgrounds and perspectives.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
- Knowledge of the U.S. political system and policy landscape.
