Scandinavian reporter

Investigate Europe is seeking a dynamic and experienced Scandinavian reporter with a focus on Norway and the surrounding region. The ideal candidate has exceptional investigative skills, deep knowledge of Norwegian politics, defence, and legal systems, and experience producing high-quality investigative journalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce investigative scoops and mid- to long-term cross-border stories, revealing challenges in Norway and the region.
• Build and maintain an extensive network of local, national, and global contacts and sources.
• Collaborate with Norwegian national outlets and regional media to strengthen coverage.
• Develop strong relationships with community groups, stakeholders, and media outlets to report underrepresented stories.
• Work with editors and audience engagement teams to create multimedia content, social media reporting, and outreach strategies.
• Collaborate flexibly with cross-border investigative teams across Europe.
• Represent Investigate Europe at external meetings and partnerships as needed.
• Identify opportunities for organisational growth and improvement.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in investigative journalism, news, or long-form reporting.
• Proven ability to generate original story ideas and present them in digital formats.
• Strong understanding of national and European audiences.
• Excellent time management, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of media law and its application in reporting.
• Experience in EU affairs.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English (additional European languages a plus).
• Strong investigative skills with a track record of scoops and in-depth analyses.
• Expertise in using documents, data, and journalistic tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly in audio, video, and social media formats.
• Knowledge of and ability to report on other Nordic countries is a plus.
