Road Safety Reporting Training for African journalists

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Science Africa will host a three-day training workshop for journalists in Nairobi, Kenya, on 16-18 July 2024.

The aim is to equip journalists to report on key road safety issues and help them to train others. The workshop will include the official launch of the WHO Africa Regional Report on Road Safety.

Applications are open to journalists and media trainers from Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania. After the training, participants may apply for grants to support reporting or training on road safety with mentoring provided by the Science Africa team.

Background

The Road Safety Reporting Initiative aims to help journalists tell more and better stories that help reduce deaths from road crashes. As part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, it offers training, mentoring, tools and resources to help journalists dig deeper into the issue.
