The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Regional Media and Communications Officer (P-2) to join its team in Vienna, Austria. The successful candidate will support the planning, development, and implementation of media and communications strategies to promote IOM’s work and raise awareness of migration issues across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of the Regional Office Media and Communications Strategy.
- Contribute to outreach strategies to promote accurate narratives on migration among media, UN, government, and partners.
- Provide editorial support and ensure the quality and consistency of IOM’s regional media and communications outputs.
- Liaise with media outlets, organize coverage, and provide briefings and interviews.
- Support regional and country offices in producing communication materials and strengthening media engagement.
- Assist in developing common media messaging and responses to media queries.
- Promote the visibility of IOM’s work through traditional and digital media channels.
- Provide training and support to communications focal points across the region.
- Ensure all multimedia materials comply with IOM’s consent and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Media and Communications, Public Information, Journalism, or related field with two years of relevant professional experience; or
Bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant experience. - Experience in journalism or public information (preferably within the UN system).
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills in English.
- Experience in communications related to migration or humanitarian issues.
- Familiarity with international organizations and media relations.
- Strong command of English (oral and written); working knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.
- Knowledge of social media, web content, graphic design, and video production.
- Photography and video editing skills are an advantage.
