Free Press Unlimited is seeking a Project Officer – Information Integrity and Innovation (32–38 hours/week) to support the implementation of international media development projects, with a particular focus on the Africa region. This role is central to advancing press freedom and reliable access to information by ensuring that media professionals and journalists are empowered to serve communities, especially in countries with limited press freedom. The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience, a deep understanding of the African context, and a passion for media development.
Responsibilities
- Support the Thematic Programme Lead in preparing and drafting project proposals.
- Maintain effective and trust-based relationships with local and international partners.
- Develop and manage contracts with donors, partners, and service providers.
- Organise and coordinate project-related logistics, including meetings, travel, visas, and accommodation.
- Draft financial and narrative reports and monitor project budgets.
- Maintain project documentation and contribute to evaluations and audits.
- Coordinate external providers (e.g. trainers, interpreters) as needed.
- Provide input to enhance internal processes and contribute to the Thematic Programme of Information Integrity and Innovation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably in an international context; experience working in Africa is an asset.
- Proven experience in project and partner management.
- Strong financial skills, including budget monitoring and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is a strong asset.
- Experience coordinating and implementing projects independently.
- Knowledge of and affinity with media development, journalism, or freedom of expression.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
- Proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Experience organising logistics for events or meetings both in the Netherlands and internationally.
