Programme Officer

Limelight Foundation is looking for a values-driven Programme Officer who brings lived experience in journalism or tech accountability to join its team in Amsterdam. The selected candidate will contribute to the foundation’s mission of strengthening Europe’s information infrastructure and supporting independent journalism. Joining a growing and diverse team, the Programme Officer will play a central role in scaling Limelight’s support for European journalism and developing a strong, strategically aligned grants portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate funding applications, conduct due diligence, and prepare donation proposals for review by the Director and Board.
• Act as a main point of contact for current and future grantees, fostering trust-based relationships and monitoring progress through reports and ongoing communication.
• Maintain accurate and compliant records to ensure financial and legal standards are met.
• Research and Knowledge Development: Conduct research and analysis to deepen Limelight Foundation’s expertise in journalism, media sustainability, and tech accountability.
• Represent Limelight Foundation at external meetings, conferences, and donor networks, expanding partnerships and visibility. Occasional international travel is required.
• Support colleagues across programmes and contribute to organisational learning and strategic development.

Eligibility

• University degree and at least five years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong understanding of independent journalism, democracy, and/or the impact of technology on the information ecosystem.
• Experience working with or within media organisations, NGOs, or advocacy initiatives.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills in English; ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
• Collaborative and proactive mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to Limelight Foundation’s values of integrity, accountability, and equality.
• Right to work in the Netherlands and based in or willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
• Flexibility for occasional international travel.
