World Press Institute is seeking a part-time Program Manager with a strong background in journalism and event planning to oversee key aspects of its 9-week US fellowship program and annual Bulgarian conference. This individual will also bring a deep understanding of international relations, facilitating cross-cultural exchanges and managing high-level engagements with influential leaders and institutions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a dynamic environment, and excels at managing sensitive communications with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning the complex schedules for WPI’s nine-week fellowship program.
  • Help coordinate WPI’s annual New Horizons Journalism Conference.
  • Oversee event promotion, including creating marketing materials, coordinating media outreach, and ensuring high attendance at public forums and workshops.
  • Facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration among fellows, alumni, and international partners.
  • Manage communications with high-level individuals and institutions.
  • Be present for key program activities in Minnesota, supporting fellows during meetings and events.
  • Capture program highlights through documentation and photography.
  • Coordinate with host families, venue staff, and other local partners to ensure smooth operations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong background in journalism, communications, or event planning.
  • Proven experience managing high-profile events and coordinating complex schedules.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and email communication platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural groups and maintain professionalism in high-stakes situations.
  • Familiarity with international relations or cross-cultural program management.
  • Based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for in-person program support.
  • Previous experience in nonprofit or educational organizations.
  • Availability for program assistance and travel during the U.S.
