Deutsche Welle Akademie are looking for a Multimedia Editor (f/m/d) at their location in Bonn starting October 1, 2024, or as soon as possible under a full-time employment contract limited to two-years.

Responsibilities

As Multimedia Editor, you will perform the following functions:

  • Support and further development of the editorial team’s social media presence
  • Content creation (video production) as well as post-production, editorial approvals, final editing and quality assurance as RvD
  • Active involvement in topic planning and the expansion of social media activities and on-demand strategy
  • Support and further development of our live formats
  • Collaboration with correspondents
  • Management of user comments
  • Collaboration with other community managers and the video coordinator to further develop the editorial team’s social media presence
  • Targeted review and optimisation of video performance using web analytics tools
  • Deputising for the editorial team’s video coordinator
Qualifications
  • Completed university degree
  • Completed traineeship or comparable journalistic training
  • Several years of professional journalistic experience in a multimedia editorial office
  • Relevant experience in the evaluation and assessment of relevant topics for social media (final editing)
  • Practical experience with common social media and a high affinity for social media
  • Sound knowledge of the target group and the political and media situation of the target market
    Sound knowledge of the common programs for social networks as well as the common DW editing systems (HIVE, Premiere Pro, CapCut)
  • High flexibility, willingness to work in shifts and willingness to spend time abroad
  • High intercultural competence
  • Enjoy working in interdisciplinary and diverse teams
  • Knowledge of French at native speaker level; very good knowledge of English and willingness to learn German
