What is the Conservation Reporting Fellowship?
With the effects of environmental degradation becoming more apparent, high-quality environmental journalism is more important than ever. However, the field has been affected by shifting business models that have severely limited early-stage career opportunities.
These issues are especially acute in places that bear the brunt of climate change, biodiversity loss, nature’s destruction and threats against Indigenous peoples and local communities.
In response, Mongabay established the Y. Eva Tan Conservation Reporting Fellowship. The Conservation Reporting Fellowship program provides opportunities for journalists from biodiversity hotspots in tropical countries to report on critical environmental issues. Fellows gain valuable training, experience and credibility to help them advance their careers in journalism and communications.
This cohort will support six fellows between April and September 2023. Half will work with Mongabay’s global English bureau and the other half with the organization’s Spanish-language bureau, Mongabay-Latam.
