MAG is seeking a Media Relations Coordinator to join its dynamic communications team and lead proactive media engagement efforts.

In this role, you will work closely with both the communications and global programmes teams to drive MAG’s media relations, secure impactful media coverage, and amplify the organization’s humanitarian mission worldwide. You will manage journalist outreach, pitch compelling stories, coordinate media visits, and contribute to written and digital content across MAG’s website and social media channels.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, media-savvy communicator who can craft powerful narratives and connect MAG’s work to audiences across traditional and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective media relations strategies to increase visibility of MAG’s impact.
  • Build and maintain a global network of media contacts and foster strong relationships with journalists and editors.
  • Identify, pitch, and place high-value stories across international, national, and regional media outlets.
  • Support the coordination of media visits to field locations and manage press enquiries.
  • Draft and edit press releases, op-eds, feature stories, and digital content that reflect MAG’s mission and values.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to align media activities with broader strategic objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate media performance and audience engagement metrics to inform future strategies.
Eligibility
  • Proven experience in media relations, communications, or journalism, ideally within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement media engagement strategies.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms (press, digital, and social media).
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to build relationships with media professionals.
  • Strategic thinker with creativity and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of analytics and audience growth strategies is desirable.
