The OECD is seeking a skilled Media Officer to join its Directorate for Communications. The successful candidate will support high-impact media outreach aligned with the Organisation’s corporate priorities and the needs of individual policy directorates. This role sits within the Media and Social Media Unit of the Strategic Communications and Outreach Division and requires a dynamic communicator with strong editorial judgement and the ability to engage international media.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality press releases, media notes, advisories, and Q&As in close coordination with OECD directorates.
  • Organise interviews, media briefings, and background sessions; liaise with journalists and OECD experts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international, regional, national, and non-traditional media outlets.
  • Ensure accurate, timely responses to media inquiries and manage targeted distribution lists.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of media strategies to enhance OECD visibility and impact.
  • Craft and align key messages with organisational priorities, audiences, and global policy debates.
  • Support reputation management efforts, including responses to emerging issues or crises.
  • Monitor evolving trends in journalism and recommend opportunities for engagement across traditional and non-traditional media.
  • Collaborate with digital teams to ensure coherent messaging across social media and online platforms.

 

Skills & Experience
  • Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, media, international relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in media relations, ideally in an international organisation; journalism experience an asset.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex policy issues for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organisational and project-management abilities; comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of OECD’s work is an advantage.
