Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) is looking for a full-time Media Business Advisor for its Media Advisory Services to co-design, coordinate and implement technical assistance initiatives that seek to accelerate digital media innovation, audience engagement and sustainability models among independent media outlets around the globe.

They seek a highly competent and organised media professional to support the development and delivery of high-quality and timely venture support to MDIF’s global portfolio and partner cohorts.

The ideal candidate must have recent media experience in product, revenue, and target market perspective and will help us lead the areas of innovation and future trends in audience habits and information consumption.

Responsibilities

As Media Business Advisor, your responsibilities will be::

  • As a member of MDIF’s Media Advisory Services (MAS) team, collaborate in the needs – assessment, co-planning, design/development, execution of technical assistance and venture support for MDIF clients and candidates globally, with a special focus on Asia and Africa.
  • Together with MDIF’s Regional Program Directors and Investment Officers, work to identify the needs of specific Candidates, partners or cohorts.
  • Contribute expertise to the assessment methodology and development of our global partners’ digital engagement and revenue strategies
  • Provide relevant technology and strategic recommendations to help MDIF clients and partners improve their service to communities and work more efficiently and sustainably.
  • Lead various initiatives, manage multiple projects. And provide strategic oversight for timely and budget-conscious completion. Monitor progress and prepare corresponding reports.
  • Contribute to:
  • Establishing benchmarks, defining best practices, and finding new ways to analyse data.
  • Discovering, defining, developing, and refining a library of metrics, reports, and dashboards.
  • Proactively identifying problems and conducting various analyses to generate meaningful insights.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in media organisations with a focus on audience engagement and revenue models.
  • Understanding of media environment and today’s challenges faced by news media organisations.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), e-mail marketing platforms, Google Analytics / and audience reporting tools as well as up-to-date understanding of data and AI tools available for informing communities.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and at least one other language.
  • Availability for regular business-related travels.
  • Commitment to MDIF’s mission and policies and a passion for press freedom.
