MDIF is seeking to appoint a full-time Program Manager to lead a new three-year media acceleration initiative aimed at strengthening the sustainability of Central and Eastern European media organizations.
MDIF is seeking a highly competent and organized media professional for a full-time contract position. The successful applicant will be based in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
The Program Manager will report to the MDIF Program Director for Europe.
Duties:
- Managing the selection process of media organizations to participate in program activities.
- Managing and monitoring the development and execution of program deliverables, leading planning, budgeting and action planning processes, and ensuring compliance with all partner contractual requirements and MDIF policies and procedures.
- Establishing sound professional relationships with, and acting as the primary contact point for, media partners, coaches and technical advisors.
- Preparing narrative and financial reports on a regular basis for donors and preparing annual activity-based plans, also producing regular internal program updates.
- Trouble-shooting program problems, identifying best practices and lessons learned, and analysing Monitoring & Evaluation data.
- Developing systems to ensure the effective gathering, storage, analysis and confidentiality of program-related data.
- Monitoring and advising MDIF on political, economic and social developments in related countries as they impact the media sector.
- Recruiting and managing additional program staff to be hired if/as needed and coordinating closely with MDIF staff working on the program internationally.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in media, journalism, media management or media support fields
- Understanding of the media environment in Central and Eastern Europe
- Degree in media, journalism or similar is preferred
- Outstanding communication, organization and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage external consultants, experts and coaches
- Existing contacts with key players and up-and-coming talent is an advantage
- Fluency in English, knowledge of at least one CEE language
