Contexte are seeking a Managing Editor to lead the launch of this new English-language vertical focused on European politics. Our goal is to provide deep reporting that explains how the EU decides, organizes, and exercises political power, highlighting emerging ideas, actors, institutional dynamics, and lobbying practices.

You will work closely with editorial leadership, reporting directly to the Editor-in-Chief in Brussels. This role requires collaboration across verticals and an openness to shaping editorial strategy in a fast-evolving newsroom environment.

Eligibility Criteria

• Native English speaker or full professional fluency in English, with excellent writing and editing skills.
• Proven experience in journalism, with a strong background in political reporting, EU affairs, or related fields.
• Experience managing journalists or editorial teams, or a strong interest in developing management and leadership skills.
• Deep understanding of EU politics, institutions, and policy-making processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively across languages and cultures; French language skills are an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspire and empower a team of English-speaking journalists and an adaptation editor. Coordinate with the Managing Editor of the French-language “Pouvoirs” vertical to build synergies and avoid duplication.
• Oversee assignments, coordinate story development across desks, and maintain a streamlined editorial workflow.
• Foster a trust-based, supportive newsroom culture focused on professional growth and collaboration.
• Contribute to refining editorial vision, expanding the European offer, and recruiting future team members to build a multicultural newsroom.
