Fondation Hirondelle is establishing a pool of Lusophone Journalism Trainers to enhance the skills of radio, TV, print, and online journalists in Lusophone African countries. Trainers will be engaged in capacity-building activities until December 2026, with an initial focus on tackling disinformation in Guinea-Bissau.

This initiative is part of a consortium project alongside the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Responsibilities
  • Develop practical training programs covering ethics, journalism fundamentals, human rights coverage, and fact-checking.
  • Conduct three five-day training sessions for journalists in Guinea-Bissau.
  • Select 10 media initiatives for tailored support (3–10 days) through a call for expressions of interest.
  • Provide in-person coaching and online mentoring to media outlets.
  • Contribute to an online knowledge-sharing platform for journalists.
Required qualifications
  • Journalism background with training and curriculum development experience.
  • Experience working in a Lusophone African country.
  • Fluency in Portuguese (Creole is an asset).
  • Proficiency in English or French for project coordination.
  • Availability for travel to Guinea-Bissau (costs covered by Fondation Hirondelle).
