Lifetime Achievement Award 2025

The Press Play Prague Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Writing and Filmmaking is now open for nominations. This prestigious honour is part of the Press Play Prague International Film Festival, dedicated to journalism and storytelling that inspire social change. The award celebrates the work of extraordinary writers and filmmakers whose creative contributions transcend borders and embody the principles of freedom of expression, justice, and democratic values.

The award is organised by Deník Referendum and Project Syndicate, in collaboration with Atlas Cinema, and was first presented in 2024 to acclaimed Czech writer and dissident Eva Kantůrková.

Objectives

• Honour lifetime contributions of storytellers whose work combines literary and cinematic excellence.
• Recognise narratives that champion journalistic integrity, human rights, and social transformation.
• Celebrate creators who confront political and ethical challenges through compelling storytelling.
• Amplify global voices advancing democratic freedoms and press liberties.

Eligibility

• Living writers and filmmakers whose body of work combines narrative and visual storytelling.
• Individuals whose creative output addresses social, political, or ethical issues.
• Nominees must demonstrate a sustained commitment to justice, truth, and freedom of expression.
