The Forum on Information and Democracy, a Paris-based organization mandated to implement democratic principles in the information and communication space, is hiring a lead rapporteur for its working group on pluralism of news and information in curation and indexation algorithms. The rapporteur can be based around the world. The working group will seek to develop policy recommendations to address specific issues facing the information and communication space. It will be guided by a high-level steering committee composed of international experts, a team of rapporteurs, and contributors from around the world.
Responsibilities
- Compile, categorize, and analyze contributions from experts and stakeholders
- Organize and run one-on-one interviews with contributors if and when needed
- Dialogues with experts and researchers contributing to the working group (interview, workshops, etc.)
- Draft the questionnaire of the consultation
- Identify potential recommendations for further development, and gaps to be filled
- Draft the final version of the recommendations
- Validates approaches and stimulates input for the research and the draft policy framework with the Steering Committee
- Coordinates with the staff of the Forum which monitors progress of the working group
- The rapporteur reports to the Operations director of the Forum
Skills and Experience
- Graduate degree with some specialization in international relations, digital rights and/or media policy
- Expertise in media law, tech governance and human rights
- Experience with policy development processes, including stakeholder
- Engagement, consultative deliberation and collaborative drafting
- Experience working and engaging with policymakers, civil society and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders
- A flexible mindset and ability to work in a fast-moving environment
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Experience working in multiple countries and/or diverse multinational workplaces
- Knowledge of multiple languages is preferable
Candidates can be based anywhere around the world. Full-time and part-time can be considered.
Wages: negotiable depending on the profile
Start date: As soon as possible
End date: end of November 2022
