The United Nations University (UNU) is hiring a Knowledge Management & Communications Manager to lead and implement its advocacy, communication, and knowledge dissemination strategies at UNU-International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior communications professional passionate about global health, sustainable development, and policy engagement to join a prominent UN think tank and contribute to high-level strategic communications and knowledge management efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the advocacy and communications strategy (2025–2028) aligned with UNU-IIGH’s new strategic plan.
  • Serve as the institutional communications focal point, representing UNU-IIGH in forums across Malaysia (including the UN Country Team), ASEAN, and globally.
  • Manage the communications budget and annual workplans.
  • Oversee editorial planning and content production for blogs, news articles, podcasts, video series, newsletters, and reports.
  • Lead the development and dissemination of knowledge products and advocacy materials that promote UNU-IIGH’s work on health systems, gender equality, digital governance, and more.
  • Manage UNU-IIGH’s online presence, including the website and social media platforms, using analytics to enhance engagement and reach.
  • Coordinate internal knowledge systems and maintain the Institute’s contributions to UNU Collections.
  • Curate mailing lists for institution-wide and work package-specific activities.
  • Plan and deliver project-specific webinars, seminars, and virtual engagements in collaboration with research teams.
  • Expand UNU-IIGH’s media network, including outreach to journalists and publication houses.
  • Provide capacity-building support to strengthen communications and advocacy efforts within the Institute.
  • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track impact and inform strategic planning.
  • Support reporting processes, including the production of the UNU-IIGH Annual Report.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Communications, Media, or a related field with experience in knowledge management related to global health.
  • At least 5–7 years of professional experience in advocacy, communications, and knowledge dissemination—ideally within research institutes, think tanks, international NGOs, or intergovernmental organizations.
  • Proven understanding of global health, sustainable development, and key international policy arenas (climate and health, gender and health, digital governance, accountability).
  • Strong experience managing content across platforms, including print, digital, webinars, and social media. Experience with Drupal, Google Analytics, and livestreaming tools (e.g., Streamyard, YouTube) is an advantage.
  • Skilled in curating audience databases (e.g., CiviCRM, Mailchimp) and using design tools like Canva or Adobe Suite.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and public speaking skills in English. Additional UN languages are a strong asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage a small team.
  • Demonstrated experience in building media relationships and securing local and international coverage.
