The CORRECTIV.Exile Journalist-in-Residence Program supports journalists who have been forced into exile due to persecution connected to their work. The program offers what many journalists lose in exile: a professional newsroom, trusted colleagues, technical infrastructure, and public visibility within a safe space.
For six months, selected journalists will work from CORRECTIV’s newsroom in Berlin alongside fellow exiled journalists and investigative reporters. Residents pursue their own journalistic projects while engaging in editorial exchange, collaboration, and public dialogue.
What the Residency offers
Residents are offered a temporary place within the CORRECTIV.Exile department. This provides them a professional base and structured opportunities for exchange with other exiled journalists and CORRECTIV staff. This includes:
- A dedicated workspace with access to essential technical equipment
- Use of podcast and video studios, as well as shared open spaces for public events (subject to availability)
- Access to CORRECTIV’s technical infrastructure, including recording equipment, editing software, and production tools
Residents also receive editorial support and visibility through CORRECTIV.Exile, including:
- Opportunities to publish selected work via CORRECTIV’s platforms
- Opportunity to participate in closed or public events as a speaker
- Profile features and media visibility, introducing residents and their work to a wider audience
- Opportunities for collaboration with CORRECTIV.Exile members and, where relevant, CORRECTIV journalists on joint research, stories, or events
- Participation in editorial meetings, story development sessions, and activities of the CORRECTIV.Exile section
