In an effort to find new and diverse ways to support media partners, the UK’s oldest journalism school, the University of Central Lancashire, has teamed up with Google DNI and International Media Support to create scholarships on the Post Graduate and Masters programmes in Journalism Innovation and Leadership (one or two years part-time blended).
This is a learning programme with most of the delivery available via weekly online sessions, and some intensive blocks of face-to-face learning at Preston, UK. It also includes mentoring from leading international experts. The course is aimed at busy working journalists, with current participants from Fiji, Zimbabwe and across Europe.
The focus is on journalism innovation and leadership – preparing professionals in a number of international contexts to handle the many challenges and opportunities arising in digital and networked spaces. Further information about the programme can be found in the course handbook.
The deadline to apply for one of the scholarships supported by the Google News Initiative and International Media Support is 30 October, 2021.
Applicants for the course must meet UCLan’s entry requirements:
- A strong interest in the challenges facing journalism and its leaders as evident in a 250-word statement that describes your daily duties, the relevance of the programme to your career, your goals for the course and how you will apply the learning in context .
