The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), in partnership with Tsinghua University and Bloomberg News, is seeking an International Co-Director (Consultant) for the prestigious Global Business Journalism Program in Beijing, China. The role begins in February 2026 and involves academic leadership, teaching, and managing a globally recognized master’s program that trains top-tier business journalists.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-direct the Global Business Journalism (GBJ) program alongside the Chinese co-director.
- Teach courses in accordance with the GBJ curriculum and provide academic advising to students.
- Coordinate all programmatic activities with ICFJ and Tsinghua University.
- Represent ICFJ in institutional discussions, advocating for academic excellence and student integration.
- Develop and implement a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system to assess program outcomes.
- Oversee recruitment, internship placements, and alumni career support.
- Lead professional workshops and organize public events.
- Supervise program staff and student media teams.
- Manage and update the GBJ international website and all program social media platforms.
- Maintain regular communication with ICFJ and submit annual reports.
- Engage with current and potential sponsors and explore funding opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience covering business or economics for a major media outlet.
- Experience in program management and personnel supervision.
- Master’s degree or higher.
- University-level teaching or professional training experience.
- International work experience, preferably in China or Asia.
- Proficiency in multimedia, social media, and data journalism.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Fundraising or donor engagement experience is a plus.
