The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is seeking an Information and Communications Officer (Function Group FG IV) to join its Communications and Awareness Raising Unit in Vienna, Austria. The selected candidate will play a key role in enhancing the visibility and impact of FRA’s work by contributing to the implementation of the FRA Communication Strategy 2023–2028, developing engaging materials, and strengthening FRA’s media and public outreach efforts.
This role suits a candidate with a strong background in communications and media relations, who can communicate complex issues clearly and creatively, and who thrives in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support media relations activities, including drafting and distributing press releases, maintaining media databases, and coordinating journalist outreach.
- Conduct media monitoring, verify information accuracy, and produce concise media impact reports.
- Assist in preparing and drafting materials for press conferences, campaigns, and media-related events.
- Draft and edit high-quality communication materials such as speaking points, presentations, and reports.
- Provide editorial support for FRA’s publications to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Identify and propose communication opportunities and outreach approaches on fundamental rights issues.
- Create and manage engaging content for FRA’s social media platforms and support digital campaigns.
- Assist in organizing conferences, seminars, and other communication events.
- Carry out administrative, financial, and contract-related tasks as needed.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a national of an EU Member State.
- Be entitled to full rights as a citizen.
- Have fulfilled military service obligations (if applicable).
- Meet character requirements for performing the duties involved.
- Be physically fit to perform assigned tasks.
- Post-secondary education in communication, journalism, international relations, political science, public administration, or a related field, attested by a diploma.
- Excellent command of English (C1 level) – FRA’s working language and the language used for all communication outputs.
- Good knowledge of another EU language (minimum B2 level).
