- Fellowships
Organisation: Indigenous Journalists Association
Deadline: 31/01/2025
Location: United States
The Indigenous Journalists Association supports and empowers members through the annual Indigenous Journalism Fellowship (IJF), which is open to current Indigenous, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, First Nations and Métis college students, undergraduate and graduate, pursuing media degrees.
The Indigenous Journalism Fellowship was created specifically for aspiring Indigenous journalists and is an opportunity for students to deepen and broaden their reporting and multimedia skills, while learning from tribal journalists and news industry professionals from across the country.
Student fellows work with mentors to produce content throughout the fellowship while completing a virtual curriculum designed to fill in the blanks left by traditional journalism schools. Fellows will work with individually paired mentors representing broadcast, radio, print and digital media. This innovative experience is designed to leverage the inclusivity and accessibility of online learning while allowing fellows to continue with classwork, jobs, internships and other responsibilities.
