Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) is seeking an Impact & Insights Officer to help measure, understand and communicate the impact of MDIF’s global investments across public interest information companies. This role sits at the intersection of data analysis, monitoring & evaluation, and strategic insight. You will play a key role in transforming data into clear, compelling narratives that support decision-making, strengthen impact, and demonstrate value to donors, investors, and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance MDIF’s impact measurement framework and underlying data systems.
- Collect, analyse, and visualize data across a global portfolio; develop dashboards and reporting tools.
- Produce quarterly and annual impact reports for internal and external audiences.
- Standardize data collection processes and ensure data quality across teams and partners.
- Monitor sector trends and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Analyse communications and content performance; support storytelling through data.
- Contribute to fundraising by providing data-driven insights and impact narratives.
Eligibility
- MDIF is seeking one candidate based in Europe. Offers of engagement are contingent on MDIF’s ability to contract in the successful candidate’s country of residence in accordance with applicable local law.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in impact measurement, data analysis or monitoring and evaluation.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public policy, data science, statistics, economics, political science or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Demonstrated proficiency with data tools, including SQL, at least one business intelligence or data visualization tool such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent, Python or R, and Excel.
- Familiarity with MEL frameworks, survey tools, and analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics).
- Ability to translate complex data into clear insights for diverse audiences.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Alignment with MDIF’s mission and interest in independent media.
