IJNet Persian Social Media Editor

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., is seeking a social media editor for its IJNet Persian site. The site provides the latest in tips, trends and training opportunities for a global, Persian-speaking audience. This is a part-time contract position. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

The Persian Social Media Editor will manage the IJNet Persian social media presence on Facebook and Twitter. They will create content for the social media pages on a daily basis, and track engagement and audience growth. They will spearhead the launch and manage the content of an IJNet Persian Instagram. The Social Media Editor will also track published content on IJNet Persian according to priority focus areas. The Social Media Editor will work closely with the IJNet Persian Editor, and with IJNet home office staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Persian site.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage IJNet Persian social media pages on Facebook and Twitter on a daily basis
  • Spearhead the launch and manage the content of an IJNet Persian Instagram
  • Create original social media graphics and videos to promote IJNet Persian content on social media
  • Monitor social media analytics to document the growth of the IJNet Persian audience
  • Track IJNet Persian published content according to priority focus areas
  • Additional tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience in journalism, including a background in social media
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluency in Persian and English
  • Work experience and knowledge of social media strategies, especially on the Persian-speaking internet
  • Knowledge of the media industry
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
