Investigate Europe (IE) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Scandinavian reporter with a focus on Norway to join its cross-border team. This is an opportunity to work with an independent, mission-driven collective of journalists producing impactful investigative journalism across Europe.
Investigate Europe collaborates with leading media partners in multiple countries to deliver deep, cross-border stories that connect European perspectives to national contexts. Headquartered in Berlin, IE operates entirely digitally and is supported by charitable organizations and readers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce investigative stories and long-form cross-border journalism offering deep analysis and original insights into political, social, and economic developments in Norway and the region.
- Build, maintain, and expand a strong network of sources at the local, national, and international levels.
- Collaborate with Norwegian and regional media outlets to enhance coverage and reach.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, stakeholders, and local partners to surface underreported stories.
- Work closely with editors and the audience engagement team to design multimedia and outreach strategies, including social media and visual storytelling.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse investigative teams across Europe.
- Represent Investigate Europe in external meetings and partnerships when required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience producing high-quality news and investigative journalism for established Norwegian media outlets.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience (mid-career or senior level preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to generate original story ideas and adapt them for digital formats.
- Strong understanding of Norwegian politics, defence, and legal systems, and familiarity with European audiences.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in Norwegian and English; additional European languages are an advantage.
- Solid understanding of media law and ethical reporting standards.
- Excellent time management and self-motivation, with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Experience working collaboratively on international or cross-border projects is highly desirable.
