Fojo Media is looking for a MEL advisor (monitoring, evaluation and learning). The MEL advisor will be a part of Fojo’s impact team, working to ensure that Fojo’s work in Sweden and abroad is effective, sustainable and long-term through increasing learning about its methods, results and impact. Fojo wants to develop its internal MEL systems and are now looking for someone who will be responsible for these processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as a process manager to develop and simplify Fojo’s MEL system, in programmes and, how these could be integrated to achieve Fojo’s goals and objectives
- Lead the work to implement Fojo’s MEL system
- Work together with the other functions of the impact team, communications and fundraising, to capture and communicate the results and impact of Fojo’s work
- Lead a network of staff and individuals with Fojo’s partners responsible for MEL
- Provide strategic support to the project teams and the Management Group related to MEL
- Support funding application processes through the development of theories of change, results frameworks, and evaluation and monitoring plans
- Provide competence development in MEL to Fojo staff and partners
Requirements:
- A relevant academic degree or similar competence level in the field
- Good knowledge of various MEL methods and documented ability to simplify implementation of these methods in the operations
- Experience of conducting MEL in civil society or other mission-driven organisations
- Documented experience from managing and leading processes
- Good analytical ability
- Good communication skills
- Ability to make decisive decisions
- An interest in the role of journalism in society
You are fluent in English and have good skills in the Swedish language.
Desirable:
- Are thorough with an eye for detail
- Are curious and cooperate well with others
- Have experience from international development
- Have experience from working within journalism and media
The position is a full-time temporary contract until 31 December 2023, with the possibility of extension.

Fojo Media institute is part of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Linnaeus University in Sweden. Fojo was established in 1972 and has, since then, trained over 60,000 journalists from c. 100 countries. Today, some 500 Swedish journalists participate in Fojo’s courses every year. Fojo also works with some 20 countries in media development projects. Fojo has a staff of 39, located in eight offices in seven countries. Fojo’s working languages are Swedish and English.
