Thomson Foundation is inviting applications from mid-career journalists to join a new capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening media integrity and promoting factual, responsible journalism in Uganda.
In this role, ten selected journalists will participate in a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop in Kampala in November 2025, developing advanced skills in verification, digital fact-checking, and practical training techniques. Participants will then cascade these skills within their newsrooms and professional networks to foster credible journalism practices.
This is an exciting opportunity for Ugandan journalists who are passionate about combating misinformation and building a culture of accuracy and accountability in the media landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the ToT workshop and acquire advanced verification and fact-checking skills.
- Lead peer-to-peer training sessions within newsrooms and professional networks.
- Contribute to the establishment and enhancement of newsroom verification protocols.
- Champion factual, ethical, and responsible journalism across Ugandan media.
Eligibility
- Mid-career journalists with a proven track record in news reporting or editorial roles.
- Strong interest in fact-checking, media literacy, and combating misinformation.
- Experience delivering training or mentoring peers is an advantage.
- Commitment to promoting integrity and accountability in journalism.
