Bloomberg Digital is looking for an experienced Editorial Data Analyst with a strong background in news who can analyse data and provide actionable insights for the newsroom, on everything from daily coverage to bigger news events.

They’re looking for a curious self-starter and an excellent communicator who is eager to dive into data to pull editorial insights and spot opportunities in news coverage and formats, as well as report on trends and make recommendations on content and distribution strategy to better serve our subscribers.

The Editorial Data Analyst will sit in the newsroom on the digital team and collaborate with multiple teams to drive growth and engagement across digital platforms, including our website, app, and newsletters, with an eye toward subscribers.

Responsibilities

As Editorial Data Analyst, they trust you to:

  • Conduct news-specific analyses and identify trends globally
  • Inform broader editorial and audience strategy
  • Work closely with the centralised analytics and insights team
  • Organise and communicate editorial data in actionable ways for the newsroom
  • Communicate findings on a daily basis and/or in the moment, based off the news cycle
  • Partner with editorial stakeholders around the world to address daily editorial data needs
  • Ensure key insights are digestible for content creators and distributors
  • Inform the newsroom on opportunities to better engage our subscribers in both coverage we create and how we reach them.
  • Spot inconsistencies, performance outliers or technical issues and surface them quickly.
Required skills
  • At least 5 years of experience in a digital news environment
  • Experience using analytics to inform subscription conversion and retention content strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data tools: Parse.ly, Mode, Data Studio, Looker, etc.
  • Fluency in SQL and GA4
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical audiences
  • A strong understanding of how digital audiences are evolving and the digital subscription ecosystem
  • The ability to network and build relationships across our large global newsroom
