The Pulitzer Center is hiring a Director of Editorial Programs to oversee global journalism initiatives. The Director will work closely with the Executive Editor and team members to shape editorial vision and strategy, while promoting collaboration with engagement teams to maximize the impact and reach of supported journalism.
The role involves developing new editorial programs, managing reporting projects, supporting journalists worldwide, and fostering a collaborative, innovative newsroom environment.
This position is remote, with preference for availability aligned to Washington, DC time zone.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 8–10 years leading enterprise, in-depth reporting projects.
  • 8–10 years recruiting and managing diverse journalism teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and editorial judgment.
  • Experience innovating and proposing proactive solutions.
  • Excellent project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Superb English writing and communication skills; additional languages are a plus.
  • Global journalism networks and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Interest in civic engagement and education.
  • Experience with environmental or climate change reporting is a bonus.
  • Ability to manage independently while maintaining a collaborative management style.
 Key Responsibilities
  • Project and Team Management
  • Develop and lead new editorial initiatives and programs.
  • Identify and recruit journalists, newsrooms, and projects globally.
  • Manage a portfolio of reporting projects (including Your Work/Environment initiative).
  • Connect journalists with partners and resources for greater impact.
  • Design and facilitate virtual and in-person team meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, universities, and partners.
  • Track and communicate project impact to stakeholders and donors.
  • Supervise and manage 2–4 Editorial team members, supporting their growth.
  • Cross-Team and Administrative Work
