KVUE-TV Austin, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate in Austin, is searching for a motivated and dynamic Digital Content Producer. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced news environment and is passionate about producing engaging local news content with an audience-first approach. This role involves writing, producing, and distributing news content across multiple platforms, including website, mobile app, social media, and streaming services.

The Digital Content Producer will monitor audience trends to produce compelling stories, manage content distribution, and ensure the best user experience across all digital platforms. This position will work closely with the larger content team to break news and deliver impactful stories in a 24/7 news environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write and distribute original, accurate breaking news content across digital platforms.
  • Curate, schedule, and manage content on the KVUE-TV Austin website, mobile app, social media, and streaming platforms.
  • Edit reporter stories for grammar, clarity, structure, AP style, and optimize content for digital engagement.
  • Enhance digital stories using creative techniques, such as subheadings, hyperlinks, graphics, and user-generated content.
  • Write in a captivating, exciting, and authentic manner.
  • Research facts and ensure the credibility of content.
  • Monitor news releases and social listening to uncover new stories and enterprise coverage.
  • Analyze data and metrics to inform editorial decisions and strategies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by senior digital producers.
  • Uphold journalistic integrity and the station’s brand across all platforms.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience writing breaking news articles or producing digital content.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to handle live, breaking news situations and rapidly evolving coverage.
  • Solid understanding of news judgment and professional journalism principles.
  • Strong knowledge of AP style, copy editing, and SEO best practices.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), photo/video editing systems preferred.
  • Ability to write in an engaging, conversational tone.
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
  • Ability to create audience-driven content and use digital analytics effectively.
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, and Canva is a plus.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including mornings, nights, and weekends.
