Desk Officer for Central & Eastern Europe / Central Asia

CAMECO is looking for a Desk Officer for Central and Eastern Europe / Central Asia to support media development and communication initiatives in these regions. This role is essential for assessing project proposals, advising on media projects, and contributing to innovative areas such as digital literacy and media safety.

The Desk Officer for Central & Eastern Europe / Central Asia will collaborate with CAMECO’s international team, working with project partners and donor agencies to strengthen community, Church, and development-oriented media.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess media project proposals from partners in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
• Provide strategic guidance on radio, TV, print, and digital/social media projects.
• Lead media and communication development efforts in the region.
• Develop and manage media projects funded by public agencies (BMZ) and private foundations.
• Contribute to Design Thinking, Digital Media Literacy, Digital Safety, and Capacity Development initiatives for civil society organizations.

Required Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field (communication studies, journalism, regional studies, or development studies).
• Professional experience in media and/or development cooperation.
• International experience, preferably in Central and Eastern Europe or Central Asia.
• Expertise in digital media education, capacity building, training, or coaching.
• Experience working with local, Church, community, and social media initiatives.
• Knowledge of project cycle management and development strategies.
• Background in working with NGOs, committees, and associations.
• Fluency in English, French, and/or German is required.
• Additional languages spoken in Central and Eastern Europe or Central Asia are an advantage.
