The Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE) is offering the David Donald Fellowship to support computer-assisted reporting training to university educators so that they can better equip their students to be effective watchdogs through the use of data.
The fellowship is named for the late David Donald, a former IRE training director who spread the gospel of computer-assisted reporting to thousands of journalists, educators and students around the world.
The fellowship provides educators with assistance to attend one of the Investigative Reporters & Editors’ Data Journalism Bootcamps, or the NICAR Conference, March 6-9, 2025.
Who is eligible?
Journalism educators who teach data journalism and investigative reporting.
What does the fellowship provide?
- One-year IRE membership/renewal ($75 value)
- Choice of attending the NICAR Conference, an Educator Data Journalism Bootcamp or a Data Journalism Bootcamp
- For the NICAR conference: complimentary conference registration, up to Four hotel nights, travel stipend ($500)
- For the bootcamps: boot camp registration ($800 value), travel stipend ($500).
