Content Editor, Project Oasis

SembraMedia is looking for two content editors to review media profiles and the final report for Project Oasis.

Tasks and goals
  • Review the media profiles in the directory in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Project Director and Regional Research Managers.
  • Consolidate a list with the information status of the media profiles by country and region (Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe).
  • Edit and standardise the directory’s media profiles in accordance with the project guidelines.
  • Edit and standardise 40+ country summaries (between 750 and 1,000 words per summary) in accordance with the project guidelines.
  • Edit the final Project Oasis report (which will be based on analysis of the directory profiles and country summaries) in accordance with the project guidelines.
  • Participate in meetings with the Project Director, Regional Research Managers and/or Coordinator to provide progress updates.
  • Deliver the edited content in a timely manner according to the project timeline.
Responsibilities

Project execution and training

  • Participate in coordination and training meetings with the Project Director, Regional Research Managers and/or Coordinator.
  • Become familiar with the directory’s content management system (CMS) prior to editing the media profiles.
  • Work with Regional Research Managers to review the media profiles in the CMS and flag any potential roadblocks.
  • Ensure the content of each media profile is adequately updated and saved in the CMS after edits have been made.
  • Change the status of media profiles from ‘draft’ to ‘published’ in the CMS after final edits have been made.

Content editing

  • Work with Regional Research Managers and Director to standardise the media directory’s content according to the guidelines.
  • Create a list with the information status of the media profiles by country and region, to identify what types of content are missing or where further clarifications are needed.
  • Review and edit the information in the media profiles so that it is correctly entered in the database and is well written in British English.
  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation according to the guidelines, and edit the text to ensure it is in the right style and formatting for the intended audience.
  • If necessary, follow up with Regional Research Managers to do final fact-checking or collect data that may be missing in the media profiles.
  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in 40+ country summaries (between 750 and 1,000 words per summary) in accordance with the project guidelines, and edit the text to ensure it is in the right style and formatting for the intended audience.
  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation of the final Project Oasis report (estimated at 5,000 words/10 pages + country summaries) in accordance with the project guidelines, and edit the text to ensure it is in the right style and formatting for the intended audience.
Required experience
  • Strong content/copy editing skills.
  • Detail-oriented work ethic with a track record for completing projects on time.
  • Native English speakers preferred. Must have experience editing in British English.
  • Previous editing experience in the journalism field, and an understanding of the European media ecosystem is preferred.

Type of role: Project-based contract position

Contract dates: October 2022 to February 2023

Languages: Native English speakers preferred. Must have experience editing in British English.

Location: Remote position. Candidates can either be based in Europe or be available to work during GMT/CET business hours if based outside of Europe.
