The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center) seeks to hire an experienced Bilingual Communications Officer to support development and implementation of an integrated communications strategy to support its work championing women’s ascension to the highest levels of leadership and challenging systemic barriers to girls’ and women’s advancement.
The Bilingual Communications Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center’s digital platforms and community engagement efforts.
This full-time position requires a strong understanding of digital communications, excellent writing and editing skills, and a passion for promoting the Center’s mission. The Communications Officer will report directly to the Director of Communications and Research.
Responsibilities
The Communications Officer will carry out the following specific tasks and responsibilities:
Community Management:
- Assist in the management of the Center’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Support in developing and implementing strategies to build and maintain a vibrant online community.
- Engage with followers on the Center’s social media platforms, responding to comments, messages, and questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Proactive monitoring of engagements and activities related to the Center’s strategic priorities.
- Maintain content dissemination schedule.
Content Creation:
- Create and curate high-quality content, including blog posts, articles, social media posts, and newsletters, in both English and French.
- Collaborate with the Research Officer to research and gather information to support content creation.
- Ensure content alignment with the Center’s brand, messaging, and target audience.
- Develop visual content for social media platforms.
Digital Platforms Management:
- Support in the management and maintenance of the Center’s website.
- Monitor analytics and track the performance of digital platforms to inform strategy and optimise results.
Media Monitoring & Media Relations:
- Assist with media relations activities, including drafting press releases, coordinating media interviews, and managing media inquiries.
Event Support:
- Provide communications support for Center events, including creating promotional materials, managing social media coverage, and on-site communications.
- Support in the organising of online events, webinars, and forums.
Required qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, including social media, website management, and email marketing.
- Ability to create engaging and compelling content.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Passion for the Center’s mission and a commitment to social justice.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in digital communications, social media management, or a related field.
- Experience working in a non-profit or NGO environment preferred.
- Experience using tools like Canva, illustrator, MailChimp preferred.
- Proficiency in using content management systems and social media analytics tools.
- Excellent French writing and oral skills. A professional working knowledge of English is also required.
