The Girls First Fund (GFF) is seeking a collaborative and motivated Communications Officer to support the implementation of GFF’s communications strategy, strengthen partner storytelling, and uplift the work of community-based organizations advancing gender justice. This role works closely with the Director of Communications and team members across programs, learning, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of GFF’s annual communications strategy, plans, and budgets.
  • Coordinate communications workflows and contribute to overall content strategy.
  • Support joint initiatives with strategic partners (e.g., VOW for Girls, Girls Not Brides).
  • Contribute to communications learning, M&E, and internal collaboration across teams.
  • Conceptualize and implement campaigns around key global moments (e.g., International Day of the Girl).
  • Help develop timelines and coordinate work across staff and partners.
  • Support management and consistent updating of the GFF website in line with brand identity.
  • Conduct regular content audits and support website improvements.
  • Help develop systems for analytics tracking and data-informed digital strategies.
  • Contribute to the editorial calendar and produce new website/digital content.
  • Maintain and curate content across social media channels.
  • Draft, schedule, and monitor social media posts and engagement.
  • Liaise with digital platform vendors to ensure security and performance.
  • Draft and edit articles, human-interest stories, features, and multimedia content.
  • Develop engaging social media content amplifying GFF partners’ work.
  • Lead creative initiatives and campaigns spotlighting grantee partners.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in strategic communications (non-profit, gender justice, or philanthropy preferred).
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience with CMS and digital tools (WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, Google Drive, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in English; French or Spanish an advantage.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and data-informed strategy.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, social, and economic justice.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience in Africa, Asia, or Latin America is a plus.
  • Availability for meetings/events across EST and PST time zones when required.
