The Communications Intern will support the JDC team in enhancing the visibility of its work through effective communication strategies. The intern will contribute to editing and proofreading technical documents, updating web content, and developing engaging digital and social media materials based on JDC’s research and data outputs.
This role suits a candidate who is both analytical and creative — someone comfortable with data and storytelling, and who can meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread technical documents related to data and economics.
- Update and maintain the Literature Review Database.
- Update and manage content for the JDC website.
- Draft and edit content for social media platforms, web materials, and presentations.
- Assist in planning and execution of events, meetings, and communications activities.
- Collaborate with team members on communication and visibility projects.
- Provide general administrative and communication support as required.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a recent graduate (within two years of graduation) or a current student in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university accredited by IAU/UNESCO.
- Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies.
- Not have exceeded UNHCR’s maximum internship period (8 months full-time or 12 months part-time).
- Not be an immediate family member (parent, child, or sibling) of a current UNHCR staff member or affiliate.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2 level or higher).
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Economics, Political Science, International Studies, Public Policy, Communications, or Marketing.
- Demonstrated interest in forced displacement, humanitarian issues, or development work.
- Strong knowledge of social media tools and analytics.
- Experience with WordPress CMS is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team.
