How to navigate information and misinformation overload while multiple crises are unfolding everywhere, all the time? Tactical Tech invites journalists, media professionals, researchers, and civil society investigators to apply for a three-day online mastercourse. The course focuses on practical methods and tactics to navigate, investigate, and expose how climate and political influence shape decisions and choices of individuals, organisations, communities, and societies.

The mastercourse will take place online on 17, 18, and 19 March 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00 Central European Time (CET) each day, including breaks.

What the course offers

  • The mastercourse merges Tactical Tech’s expertise in investigating the political influence industry and its technology and society-focused projects with its recent research on climate and information crises.
  • Drawing on this work, participants will spend three days of knowledge-rich sessions and networking. With invited experts and peers, they will focus on methods and tactics to investigate how climate and political influence works.
  • Addtionally, attendees will learn and share skills about methods, tools and case studies on how to investigate, collaborate and communicate this complex topics. 
  • Laslty, the event is a free learning and collaboration opportunity, any kind of stipends or grants for attending the online sessions will not be provided.

Eligibility

Eligible participants are those conducting investigations in the public interest and having a strong interest in climate and/or political influence topics. This includes:

  • Journalists (freelance, or affiliated with independent media, journalism networks, or NGOs)
  • Fact-checkers
  • Researchers
  • OSINT investigators
  • Civil society or “citizen” investigators
  • Investigative artists
  • Members of NGOs or research organisations using investigative methods in the public interest
  • Academics or students researching related topics

Addtionally, the organisers welcome other members of civil society who demonstrate curiosity and commitment to applying investigative standards to public interest.

How to apply

  • Please submit your application by completing this online form by 20 February 2026, 23:59 CET.
  • For transparency, applicants are asked to disclose any use of AI tools in structuring or writing their application responses.
  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. All selected participants will be notified by 2 March 2026.
