UNESCO is seeking an Associate Communication Officer to strengthen the coordination, planning, and implementation of communication activities across its Division for Communications and Public Engagement (CPE). The role will focus on amplifying field-level visibility, supporting campaigns and engagement events, and ensuring smooth internal coordination to deliver timely and impactful communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the overall management and strategic planning of CPE communication activities.
- Liaise with communication officers in field offices to gather stories, testimonies, and content for press, digital platforms, and internal use.
- Facilitate cross-sector contributions and strengthen internal coordination to ensure timely delivery of outputs.
- Support administrative operations of the Division, including budget, procurement, contracts, and work plans.
- Supervise junior administrative assistants and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
- Monitor progress, identify priorities, and provide updates to the Director.
- Contribute to the preparation and production of content for websites, social media, and event calendars.
- Update digital platforms with texts, translations, and visual materials.
- Produce documentation and analysis for corporate reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
- Track and analyze communication activities, trends, and innovations in strategic planning.
- Develop information materials to strengthen organizational culture and knowledge-sharing across headquarters and field offices.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communication, public administration, international relations, languages, or related fields.
- A first-level degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in communication, including planning, coordination, or project management.
- Experience producing website or event-related content.
- Preferably 1 year of international-level experience.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Ability to collect, synthesize, and present information clearly.
- Independent, detail-oriented, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Excel, and collaboration tools (Teams, Trello).
