African Philanthropy Media Fellowship

The African Philanthropy Media Fellowship is a 6-week programme aimed at advancing accurate and compellingly reporting on African-led philanthropy and development. It is a fully virtual programme designed to equip emerging journalists, content creators, and media practitioners across Africa with the knowledge, skills, and networks central to African-led philanthropy and development.

Thematics

Under the theme “Beyond Aid: Reporting African-Led Philanthropy,” the fellowship focuses on:

• Strengthening understanding of Africa’s philanthropy ecosystem.
• Building practical storytelling and data-driven reporting skills.
• Supporting fellows to produce publishable stories that amplify African narratives, actors, and solutions.

What the programme offers: 

The programme strengthens understanding of Africa’s philanthropy ecosystem while building practical storytelling, data-driven reporting, and ethical journalism skills. Fellows will gain:

• Structured virtual trainings
• Mentorship from experienced media and philanthropy practitioners
• Editorial guidance and feedback
• Opportunities to publish with Philanthropy Circuit and partner platforms
• Exposure to African philanthropy actors, models, and narratives
