The search for the best journalistic work of the year by emerging talents has begun for the 34th Axel Springer Prize for Young Journalism – one of the most prestigious awards for young journalists in the German-speaking world – not only editors-in-chief and heads of department can nominate outstanding work from 2024 by young talents.
For the first time, the public is also invited to submit nominations for the Axel Springer Prize for Young Journalism.
Award Categories
Awards will be presented in the categories “Politics and Business”, “Report”, “Future”, and “Entertainment”. Additionally, as in previous years, the “Best Team Performance” award category recognises outstanding contributions that are the result of teamwork, including innovative journalistic projects and products.
Unique Journalistic Experiences
- Future award winners can look forward to exceptional journalistic experiences. They will have the opportunity to visit Axel Springer’s editorial offices, gaining unique insights, networking with leading figures in the media industry, and acquiring hands-on experience.
- Additionally, the George Weidenfeld Prize for courageous reporting will once again be awarded as a special honour during the ceremony next year. It is bestowed out of competition and endowed with 10,000 euros.
Eligibility
- Eligible for nomination are journalistic contributions in German language from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, created by trainees, editors, or freelancers who were no older than 33 at the time of publication.
- For team projects, this age limit applies to all primary contributors.
