2024 JournalismAI Fellowship Programme

Status: Closed

Type:
  • Fellowships

Organisation: JournalismAI

Deadline: 26/01/2024

Location: Online

The JournalismAI invites applications for the fourth cohort of the JournalismAI Fellowship. This year they will focus primarily on projects that envision using GenAI. Up to 30 journalists and technologists will be selected to join the 2024 Fellowship cohort and work together over seven months (April to November).

JournalismAI invites applications from candidates working in news organisations anywhere in the world (although if you are outside of GMT-6 and GMT+8, it will be logistically challenging to participate fully). To take part in the programme, you need to have some experience working on products and/or stories that involve the use of AI technologies.

They’ve designed the programme so that fellows keep their jobs while they dedicate 8 hours a week to the Fellowship. Teams will be given financial support for project expenses, as well as mentorship and coaching from experts in the JournalismAI community.

How to apply

Interested applicants must first submit an initial application to pass the initial screening process. Pairs of candidates (one editorial, one technical) or individual technical and editorial candidates from news organisations may apply.

All shortlisted applicants will be invited to form teams through a guided match-making process facilitated by the JournalismAI team. You may form teams of four fellows or six fellows with an equal split between editorial/strategic and technical fellows. Once you have formed teams, you must submit a second and final application with your project proposal for the Fellowship period.

The deadline for initial applications is Friday, 26 January 2024 at 11:59 PM GMT.
