2022 Africa Digital for Development (D4D) Journalism competition

• Eligibility criteria:
  – Only one submission per journalist is accepted.
  – All types of reporting are accepted (videos, podcasts, blogs, electronic news). However, all entries should be published on online media outlets.
  – Participants should be citizens of an AU Member State.
  – Entries might be published in an African or foreign outlet. However, they should not be older than one year (published on 17 January 2021 at the earliest).
  – Participants must speak a good level of English (B1) and have a valid passport until December 2022.
  – Participants must be able to provide proof of clearance to submit the article/reportage by the newspaper or publication where it has been published.

The African Union – European Union (AU-EU) Digital for Development (D4D) Hub is proud to host the first Africa D4D Journalism Competition.

The competition is open to all African journalists who use online media to report on the impact of digital technologies on people’s lives across the African continent, and the policies needed to reap their benefits for sustainable and inclusive development. We are seeking high-quality and in-depth stories that contribute to raise awareness on the importance of building a digital economy and society that leaves no one behind.

To participate in the competition, journalists are invited to send an in-depth article or reportage on one of the following subjects: connectivity, digital skills, digital entrepreneurship, e-Governance, e-Commerce, digital financial services, cybersecurity, privacy and data protection.
