Grant Submissions are now open for the European Cross-Border Grants Program to support professional journalists, who have good ideas for cross-border investigations and for research on European affairs. The stories must be relevant to European target groups. The project should be one that, in principle, could not be realised in this format within the remit of regular journalism – a project that can include cross-border research, networking between colleagues, established and innovative investigative methods and that is at the same time original, innovative and intensive.

JOURNALISMFUND.EU LAUNCHES NEW GRANT PROGRAMME: MODERN SLAVERY UNVEILED

Grant This grant programme aims to enable independent journalistic investigations into the exploitation of Asian victims of human trafficking and forced labour in Europe. Cross-border teams of professional journalists can apply for a grant to cover working time and/or expenses to investigate, document and expose aspects and cases of forced labour, cross-continental trafficking and other issues related to the exploitation of Asian victims in Europe. Next to a grant, teams can also apply for a mentor to provide assistance with either the focus of the investigation or the need for competences in a specific skill.

Grant The European Commission is launching a Call for proposals for the Pilot Project “Media ownership monitor”. The Media Ownership Monitor project will create a tool to better inform policy and regulatory interventions that support media freedom and pluralism, by clearly delineating where ownership lies, making potential issues more visible and thereby helping to improve the understanding of the media market. Concretely, the Monitor will provide a country-based database containing information on media ownership, assess systematically relevant legal frameworks and identify possible risks to media ownership transparency.
