GFMD AND PARTNERS TO CO-HOST PANEL AT THE NGO CSW 2019

|On 21 March 2019, GFMD and its members will host a media development panel as part of the NGO CSW63. The event titled, ‘Does the online space allow women in media to challenge stereotypes and misrepresentation?’ will be held in New York. The discussion panel aims to explore the ways in which women are harnessing online spaces to challenge the stereotyping and misrepresentation that is present in traditional media.
GFMD is co-organising this event alongside member organisations Fondation Hirondelle, Free Press Unlimited (FPU), International Media Support (IMS), Internews, IREX, and the Media Diversity Institute (MDI). The panel consists of women journalists and other media professionals who will discuss the various successes and challenges they have faced in their efforts to develop an online presence. The panel discussion will last 90 minutes, including individual reflection from each panellist and a discussion with the audience. The primary goal of this event is to understand how women in media can use online spaces to empower themselves.
