Senior English Editor

Jummar is an independent Iraqi media platform producing human-centred, rights-based journalism. As its English-language platform continues to grow, it is seeking a Senior Editor to lead editorial direction, oversee content production, and strengthen engagement with international and diaspora audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Define and oversee the editorial direction of Jummar’s English-language platform
• Set weekly, monthly, and quarterly editorial priorities
• Lead editorial planning and content commissioning
• Maintain editorial standards, style guidelines, and quality control across platforms
• Oversee English-language website, newsletter, and social media output
• Review performance and audience data to refine editorial strategy
• Develop relationships with contributors, writers, researchers, and cultural partners
• Lead the development and production of Jummar’s English newsletters

Requirements

• Fluency in English and Arabic
• Proven experience in journalism, editing, and content production
• Strong editorial and leadership skills
• Knowledge of Iraqi political, social, environmental, and cultural context
• Experience managing contributors, editorial workflows, and content strategies
