Fetisov Journalism Awards 2026

The Fetisov Journalism Awards (FJA), founded by philanthropist Gleb Fetisov, is one of the largest international journalism contests, intended to reward outstanding journalists worldwide; submissions for the 2026 edition are now open.

Details

• Four award categories: Outstanding Contribution to Peace, Contribution to Civil Rights, Outstanding Investigative Reporting, and Excellence in Environmental Journalism
• Three winners in each category share a cash prize of CHF 130,000, described as the biggest prize in the history of international journalism
• The shortlist of contest finalists is posted on the website in December 2026
• The winning projects are announced in April 2027

Requirements

• Entries are open to professional journalists, i.e. representatives of the media, professional journalism organizations (unions/associations/societies) and freelance journalists.
• Self-nominations are allowed.
• Maximum of 3 (three) reportings/series of reportings* from one journalism organization/media platform can be nominated for participation in the contest.
• The submission form may be filled out by a representative of a registered organization/media platform nominating another journalist or by a nominee. Information must be provided in English.
• Each author, whether submitting individually or as part of a team, is limited to one entry (a single reporting or series of reportings) in one competition category only.
• Publications (stories/articles/reportings) participating in the contest must have been published in printed media (newspapers/magazines/journals) and/or posted on media websites/outlets from June 1st, 2025 to May 31st, 2026.
• The word restriction for the submitted publications is 15,000 words.
• Films, videos and audio recordings as separate pieces of work are not accepted for the contest.
• All publications must be provided in English.
